How I Create My Monthly Prayer Page
A Faith-Based Planner Routine to Begin Each Month with Peace and Purpose

“Entrust your works to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” — Proverbs 16:3
Have you ever started a new month by immediately filling your planner with appointments, errands, deadlines, and to-do lists?
I certainly have.
For years, my monthly planning routine began with my calendar. I’d open my planner, write down everything I needed to remember, and then spend the month trying to keep up with it all.
But over time, I realized something was missing.
I was organizing my schedule without first asking what truly mattered.
These days, before I fill in projects and tasks, I begin every month with something much more important: prayer.
Creating a Monthly Prayer & Intentional Living Page has become one of my favorite planning routines because it helps me slow down, invite God into my plans, and focus on becoming the woman He is calling me to be—not simply accomplishing more.

Why I Started Creating a Monthly Prayer Page
Like many women, my planner became a place to manage everything.
Family schedules.
Work deadlines.
Church commitments.
Appointments.
Meal plans.
Cleaning routines.
Business projects.
While all of those things are important, I realized my planner was helping me organize my life—but not necessarily live it intentionally.
Eventually I began asking myself a different question every month:
“Lord, what do You want me to focus on during this season?”
That simple question completely changed my planning routine.
Instead of beginning with my calendar, I now begin with prayer.
What I Include on My Monthly Prayer Page
Each month I spend a little quiet time reflecting and filling out a page that includes:
- A Monthly Focus Word
- A Bible Verse
- A Virtue to Practice
- A Theme for the Month
- A Personal Reflection
- A Monthly Prayer
- A Faith-Based Affirmation
- Practical Ways to Live Out My Focus
Sometimes these come together quickly.
Other months I spend several days praying and thinking before deciding.
There isn’t a “right” answer.
The purpose isn’t perfection.
The purpose is creating space for God to guide the month ahead.
Turning Prayer Into Everyday Living
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that inspiration alone rarely creates lasting change.
Systems do.
That’s why, after creating my Monthly Prayer Page, I ask myself:
“How can I actually live this out in my everyday life?”
For me, that’s where my planner and my Peaceful Home Index Card System work together.
If my monthly focus is peace, maybe I create an index card reminding me to spend ten quiet minutes in prayer with my morning coffee before reaching for my phone.
If my focus is gratitude, perhaps I add a daily reminder to write down three blessings before bed.
If my focus is patience, maybe I intentionally pause before responding during stressful moments.
These aren’t huge changes.
They’re small, faithful steps that slowly become part of everyday life.
And over time, those small steps really do make a difference.

Planning Isn’t Just About Getting More Done
As I’ve worked on creating my Peaceful Home Membership and Index Card Course this year, one truth keeps coming back to me.
A peaceful life isn’t built by finding the perfect planner.
It isn’t built by creating the perfect routine.
And it certainly isn’t built by accomplishing everything on your to-do list.
A peaceful life is built through small, intentional choices that align our days with what matters most.
That’s what this Monthly Prayer Page reminds me every single month.
It gently brings me back to the bigger picture.
Not just what I want to accomplish…
…but who I want to become.
