April Planner Reset + Finding Peace After an Unexpected Start

There’s something about turning the page to a new month that feels hopeful.

But this April didn’t begin the way I expected.

On the morning of April 1st, our neighborhood was suddenly filled with smoke after a nearby home was struck by lightning. Within minutes, multiple fire departments were on the scene. It was one of those moments that shakes you out of your routine and reminds you how quickly things can change.

Later, after everything settled, I found myself back at my desk—quietly working through my planner reset.

And honestly… it was exactly what I needed.

Closing Out March

Before I could move forward, I needed to close out March.

I flipped through my completed pages, checked off lingering tasks, and moved everything into my 2026 archive planner. There’s something so satisfying about knowing everything has a place—and that I don’t have to keep going back to old pages to find unfinished tasks.

That “closing the loop” feeling brings so much peace.

Trying Something New

This month, I also spent time exploring new inserts from Jane’s Agenda.

I’ve been using the Weekly No. 32 layout, but I tested out the Weekly No. 19 to see if a more structured daily task system might work better.

Instead of switching immediately, I mocked up a test week—which is something I highly recommend if you’re ever unsure about changing your system.

A Faith-Filled Reset

As I set up April, I couldn’t help but reflect on how much my Lenten routines have been grounding me.

My “40 Miles in 40 Days” walking challenge—paired with prayer and quiet time—has made such a difference, even on the busiest or hardest days.

Simple, consistent rhythms really do add up.

A Fresh Start

By the end of this reset, my planner felt calm, clear, and ready.

And more importantly… I felt ready.

That’s the beauty of a monthly reset—it’s not just about the planner.
It’s about giving yourself space to begin again.
